Ridgefielders Receive Athletic Awards at Wooster School

Ridgefielders Alex Hard, Caylynn Maldonado, Julia Kalish, Kathryn Madaloni, Kern Byrnes, Olivia Edelman and Trista Ma receive accolades for athletics at Wooster School

The Wooster School Athletics' community gathered in the Forever Young Gymnasium on Tuesday night for the 13th Annual Upper School Athletic Awards Ceremony to honor the year's achievements on the courts and fields, in the classroom and in the community.

Director of Student Life, Brian Hastings, administrators and staff, along with student athletes, coaches, and parents from all 22 Wooster Generals teams, came together to celebrate the year's accomplishments.

Brian Hastings kicked off the awards portion of the night by addressing the crowd outlining the impressive successes of Wooster athletics this year, while also reflecting on the goal of athletics at Wooster, which is to provide a competitive environment wherein our students translate the skills and dispositions they learn in the classroom to the playing fields. The evening was a celebration of the community – students, parents, and the coaching staff were all recognized.

Team award presentations followed, as each coach gave a recap of their respective seasons. The coaches then presented their individual sport awards, as well as recognized their HVAL All-Stars, New-England All-Stars, and All-State honors.

Several special recognition awards were also presented. Three-sport athletes, HVAL championship teams, and New England tournament teams were all honored, as well as departing coaches (Jackie Malyzska and Amanda Barter) were recognized for their contributions and years of service to Wooster’s athletic program. Additionally, the Class E New England Championship girls basketball team was honored.
