Nutmeg Festival Donations Accepted This Saturday

The 108th edition of St. Stephen's Nutmeg Festival will take place Saturday, July 26, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This annual event, one of Connecticut's oldest church fairs, features food, entertainment, crafts, art, a Silent Auction, Raffle, books and games for children. A large portion of the fair's proceeds goes to local charities. In preparation for Nutmeg 108, committee members are accepting donations of items to be sold from the community and parishioners this Saturday, May 17, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. behind the church at 351 Main St. According to Nutmeg chairmen, Claire and Nick Simard, "We are looking for bicycles, furniture (used, barely used and brand-new), children's toys and games, jewelry, books, kitchen utensils and other household goods, as well as antiques and other treasures." All donations are tax deductible. The committee regrets that it cannot accept computer monitors, oversized furniture, press board furniture, humidifiers, air conditioners, plumbing fixtures, mattresses/box springs, exercise machines, home health equipment, baby cribs, car seats, changing tables, large rear-projection TV's, clothing, used stuffed animals, encyclopedias, text books or dictionaries. After this Saturday, drop-off dates are June 14, June 28, and July 12 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
