2015 Immaculate grad dies after been hit by a car last night

Danbury Police have confirmed that a 17-year-old girl was struck and killed by a car Thursday evening, July 2, as she and a friend were crossing the street near West Conn.  Rebecca Draper Townsend was transported to Danbury Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Townsend was with her friend, Benjamin Arnie of New Fairfield, who suffered injuries and is presently at Danbury Hospital being treated.

Both Townsend and Arnie graduated on June 3 from Immaculate High School. According to her Facebook page, Townsend was planning to attend University of Notre Dame in the fall.

In a letter to parents, Immaculate High School Principal Joseph Carmen said that Townsend and Arnie were returning from the Danbury fireworks celebration.  

in conjunction with St. Joseph's Parish in Brookfield, Immaculate is offering counseling services for parents and students tonight as well as tomorrow, July 4. Immaculate priest, Fr. Jeffrey Couture, will be available for anyone struggling with the tragedy.
