Arthur J. Tuccio Sr.

Arthur Joseph Tuccio Sr., 83, of Naples, FL (formerly of Ridgefield, CT) passed away peacefully with his family by his side on July 28, 2015, five days before his 84th birthday.

Mr. Tuccio, son of the late Attilio and Maria (Cassone) Tuccio and beloved husband of Liisa Tuccio, was born at home in Bedford Hills, NY on August 5th 1931. He was the youngest of four brothers (the late Jerry, Joseph, and Patrick) and the only one not born in Campo Calabria, Italy. He attended Bedford Hills, NY schools. At a young age, he worked diligently on getting small jobs with the dream of becoming a business owner one day. As a teenager, he ventured out to Riverhead, L.I. to work for his older brother Patrick assisting with the used car business. At the age of 21, after hard work, dedication and knowledge of cars, he decided to start his own business and opened “Art’s Used Cars” in Port Chester, NY. He was proud to be the youngest licensed used car dealer in New York State.

Mr. Tuccio owned and operated his auto business for many years until he was introduced to the home building business by his brother, Jerry. At the same time, he was also introduced (by his brother Joseph), to a Finnish medical student, Liisa Suomela, who was here on an exchange program. After a very short courtship, he proposed. They were married and inseparable for 52 wonderful years. They purchased their first home on Old Wagon Road, Ridgefield, CT in 1963 where his mother resided with them until her passing in 1972. They were delighted to raise their four children in Ridgefield, CT, appreciating the company of his brother Jerry and his family residing next door. His home building business, Ridgeview Construction Inc., Ridgefield, CT lead him to become a successful builder. He built many homes in Ridgefield, CT including, Pleasantview Estates, West Mountain Estates and others. He was highly respected by his customers and took pride in every home he built.

Mr. Tuccio was not only successful in his business, but he was most successful and proud of being a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed living the simple life, having his family living nearby and spending all his quality time with them. He enjoyed Naples, FL where he was a member of the Quail Creek Country Club. He was the happiest and most proud when the whole family was together.

He is survived by his wife, Liisa and by his three children: Tina Guerra and her husband Daniel of Ridgefield, CT; Edward Tuccio and his wife Kimberly of Ridgefield, CT; David Tuccio and his wife Donna of Windermere, FL., as well as his daughter-in-law, Susan Tuccio of New Milford, CT. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren: Andrew, Alex, and Hunter Tuccio; Lauren, Chelsea and Hailey Guerra; Brandon and Isabella Tuccio, and Kaila and Jenna Tuccio.

He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers and his first born son and best friend, the late Arthur Joseph Tuccio, Jr of Ridgefield, CT.
