Ridgefielder Alexandra DiGiacomo makes a splash in Southampton

As you probably know by now, rising RHS senior, Alexandra DiGiacomo doesn't sit still, not even in the summer. Why would she? Alexandra is passionate about marine biology and summer is prime time for underwater excursions and exploration. Heck, Sharknado just hit media channels all over the World.

Alexandra, author of A Familiar Fin and founder and editor of Saving Sharks for Safer Seas just finished six weeks of research alongside marine ecologist and conservation scientist Dr. Konstantine Rountos, through Stony Brook Southampton’s Marine Sciences Shinnecock Bay Restoration Program

In an article in today's Southampton Press, writer Rena Thomas quotes Dr. Rountos describing Alexandra as having “infectious enthusiasm” for the work they do together. “Alexandra is one of the top-performing summer interns that I have ever mentored,” Dr. Rountos said. “I have little doubt that she will continue to shine throughout her academic journey,” said Rountos.

Alexandra just completed her internship in Southampton and hopped on a plane today, headed for the British Virgin Islands. There, she will secure her rescue diving certification program.

Ridgefield and HamletHub are proud of the work Alexandra is doing to assure the safety and longevity of all creatures living in the deep blue sea.
