Celebrating 30 Years of Fashion and Form

To celebrate thirty years of selling incredible couture, Diane Roth - fashion stylist and owner of L’Armoire in New Canaan - will be auctioning off thirty designer items to benefit The Glass House, a site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, on Thursday, September 17th.

The date, which falls on the last day of New York Fashion Week, will see many designers in attendance. Meet the future: Christian Siriano and his new collection between 12 – 4pm. Siriano rose to fame having become the youngest designer to win Project Runway, and is a red carpet favorite. His famous clients include: Sarah Jessica Parker; Lady Gaga; Rihanna; Christina Ricci; Victoria Beckham; Taylor Swift (who chose a Siriano gown to wear in her Wonderstruck fragrance campaign, print ads and commercials); Heidi Klum and Emily Blunt – to name but a few.

Other New York designers attending the party include; Maggie Norris, Cynthia Rose, Cornelia Guest and Make-up artist to the stars – Kevin James Bennett.  Auction pieces donated to date include: a one-of-a-kind Maggie Norris jacket, a vintage Donna Karan Jacket and exquisite estate jewelry.

L’Armoire (French for wardrobe) is located opposite New Canaan Railroad Station, chosen deliberately to accommodate Diane’s loyal New York and Fairfield clientele. The store is filled with exclusive American and European designer collections, and estate jewelry with prices ranging from $50 - $50,000+.

Diane has an abundance of fashion experience and advice. She has regularly dressed people for the Oscars and other iconic film ceremonies. She is the straight-talking, best friend you need when you want to make an entrance. She and her discreet team of ladies offer shopping advice and consultations about style and complete wardrobe overhauls. Body size certainly doesn’t matter – they will find something to suit all shapes. Diane says: My clients are between 25 – 95 years old and we empower them to make a lasting impression on people with their overall look, not only with the designer outfit they are wearing. I enjoy giving back to the community and wanted to focus on design. So having the iconic Philip Johnson Glass House onboard seemed a natural fit between fashion and form. Their Summer Party is legendary - a few local clients came to us for inspiration and one made it into W Magazine. For our auction we will have 30 pieces of vintage, one-of-a-kind and limited edition items available. All proceeds will benefit The Glass House, so it will be quite a celebration.”

Diane is famous for once packing a clients ‘carry on’ suitcase for a 3-week business trip, which included an award ceremony, presentations, dinners and a safari.  She admits it was challenging but if you limit yourself to 3 pairs of shoes, it can be done.

The collaboration with The Glass House is captured by Director of Development, Scott Drevnig who comments: “We are thrilled and honored to partner with L’Armoire on this exciting 30th Anniversary celebration. The Glass House has a long-standing relationship with the fashion world, beginning with Philip Johnson’s “Country Happening” in 1967 covered by Vogue, which included the Who’s who of the fashion world. Today we are recapturing this legacy with new partnerships with fashion houses including Tom Ford, Tod’s, Swarovski, Alfred Dunhill and look forward to more exciting collaborations”.
