Tom Scalzo, father of Ridgefielder & General Motors employee, passes away at 85

Thomas Scalzo, 85 of Danbury, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2015. He was the loving husband of the late Elizabeth (Lazaroff) Scalzo.
 
Thomas was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 26, 1930; a son of the late Giuseppe and Katherine (Wojtowicz) Scalzo. He served in the US Army as a Medic during the Korean War.
 
Thomas worked as a Draftsman for General Motors and he married his sweetheart, Elizabeth in 1952, she was his childhood sweetheart, they met in middle school and were inseparable throughout life. Tom loved listening to music, playing 45's with Betty dancing in the living room during our younger years. They were known amongst their friends and family to host the warmest Christmas parties embracing all into their small modest home on Mitchell Street. Tom never took a day off of work for 32 years a dedicated employee to General Motors his entire working life.
 
During their nearly 70 years together they raised a family of seven children while both worked for the automotive companies in Detroit.
 
Thomas enjoyed boxing, horses, jazz music and gardening. He loved to go fishing and he enjoyed John Wayne and Western movies. He will always be remembered as a family man first.
 
Thomas is survived by his seven children: Kathy, Karen, Kristine, John and Kimberly, all of the Detroit Metro Area; Tom of Ridgefield and Kolleen of Danbury. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren, who will miss him dearly.   

Dad, your spontaneous, upbeat vibe for life and ridiculous sense of humor will be missed, "Hotsie Totsie".

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 10:30 am in the Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. Interment with US Military Honors will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bethel.
 
Friends will be received from 9 AM until the time of the service at Kane Funeral Home.
