Ridgefield Police Department Welcomes Two New Officers

Ridgefield Police Department, together with Police Commissioners, Town Clerk, Barbara Serfilippi, Rabbi Haddon and friends, welcomed two fine young men to the Department today with an official swearing-in ceremony including pinning of the badge and insignia.

Rest assured, Ridgefield is in very good hands.

After interviewing twenty candidates, Police Commissioner Marci Coffin, said, “You were the best of the best.”

“Those who made it to this point have risen to the top, it’s a grueling process,” said Ridgefield Chief of Police, John Roche, who added, “You had to pass several tests - psychological, medical, physical, polygraph...that’s just the beginning.” The new officers will now enter the Police Academy for six months, after which they will be paired with a veteran officer for another three months before going out on their own.

Police Officer Eric Boulware, who lives in Ridgefield with his wife Courtney and son Luke, graduated Cum Laude from Ohio University where he played football. Prior to entering the police force, Eric was the Ridgefield High School Freshman Football Coach and on staff at Ridgefield Young Life.

Police Officer Louis Geller who hails from Wallkill, NY, graduated Cum Laude from Norwich University where he participated in the ROTC program and became a Corporal in the Marine Corps Reserves.

Rabbi Haddon spoke of faith, hope, strength and humanity. He blessed the newly sworn in officers saying, “There is not a man or woman that God does not try...place trust and faith in God in all circumstances.”
