The National Transportation Safety Board has released a preliminary report regarding the plane crash on September 20 that killed two Ridgefielders, both Freshman at Colgate University, Carey Depuy and Ryan Adams.

According to the report, the plane, a Cessna 150H, registered to and operated by Bargabos Earthworks, experienced a loss of control in-flight and collided with trees and then terrain near Morrisville, NY at 12:51pm.

The airplane owner indicated that the pilot rented the plane for the purpose of a pleasure flight and that 20 minutes after takeoff, he heard the pilot announce that the plane was over Colgate University. That was the last communication he heard and there were no distress calls made.

Witnesses reported seeing the plane flying in a southeasterly direction and described the plane flying very low and the engine to appear to be sputtering before hitting the ground.
