Allison Stockel is our Hometown Hero & will be honored tomorrow night

Ridgefield resident & Executive Director of The Ridgefield Playhouse, Allison Stockel will receive the "Hometown Hero" award from the United Way of Western Connecticut on February 27 at The Hometown Heroes Benefit Dinner.

United Way profiles Stockel:

In her position as the executive director of The Ridgefield Playhouse, Allison devotes her time to running the theater and very generously donates back her entire salary to the Playhouse. Allison developed outreach programs named Arts for Everyone and Arts in Education that help make top name theater and the arts accessible to everyone. Many children from Title 1 schools have been able to see live performances for the first time as a result. The Playhouse also provides live entertainment to children in Ridgefield and surrounding towns which directly correlates to the curriculum in the local schools. Allison’s generosity goes well beyond The Playhouse; she quietly supports a large number of organizations in Ridgefield, greater Danbury and other surrounding communities by serving on numerous Boards and leading local fundraising efforts. Allison also delivers food as part of the Hillside Food Outreach program and is actively involved in their fundraising galas as a committee member. In addition, Allison enjoys hosting two wonderful girls from A Better Chance. Allison, her husband Jon and their two children have lived in Ridgefield for 15 years.

Additional award recipients include:

-        Corporate Philanthropy Award to Kimberly-Clark Corporation for exemplifying corporate social responsibility and demonstrating a strong commitment to giving back to the community
