Talking Books Recording Studio at Ridgefield Library Seeks Volunteers

The Talking Books Recording Studio, located in the Ridgefield Library, is seeking volunteers to edit recordings made by our volunteer readers. These recordings end up as Digital Talking Books that are loaned to blind and physically handicapped patrons by the Connecticut State Library at no charge.  Volunteer sound editors are needed to process audio files and remove extraneous noises. While prior experience in sound editing is helpful, it is not required.  Training will be provided.

Help us bring the printed word to those who for whom it is inaccessible! Qualified individuals will be at least 18 years old, proficient computer users, familiar with or open to learning simple audio editing software, committed to finishing projects in a timely manner, and have a strong attention to detail. Time commitment required is 3-5 hours per week.

Connecticut Talking Books (CVSBH, Inc.) is an all-volunteer, 501c3 nonprofit organization that produces Digital Talking Books for the State Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped. Talking Books and companion digital players are loaned to eligible patrons for free. For more information about receiving this service, inquire at Adult Services in the Ridgefield Library. To inquire about volunteering as a Sound Editor, please email Gretchen and Sandy at talkingbooksridgefield@gmail.com.
