ROAR names their Volunteers of the Year for 2015

ROAR (Ridgefield Operation for Animal Rescue) recently held their annual volunteer appreciation party at Vivo! Bar and Grill in Danbury. The party is thrown each year to recognize and celebrate ROAR’s 100+ volunteers who devote their time to care for the cats and dogs awaiting their forever homes.

Each year, the ROAR staff selects volunteers who went above and beyond during the previous year. Honored at the party by Allyson Dotson, ROAR Director, and Dorene Zurlo, Volunteer Coordinator, were two cat volunteers and two dog volunteers.

The ROAR Volunteers of the Year for 2015 are:

Rebecca Kaufman (cat), Cindie Lishawa (cat), Debbie Johnson (dog), Erica Ryke (dog).

Also honored at the party were volunteers who have completed both 5 and 10 years of dedicated service at ROAR. The 5 year volunteers are:  Ann McDowell, Sharon Okenquist, Kerry Rivard, CJ Thomas, and Annette Webb. The 10 year volunteers are: Mary Ellen Egan, Rita Falk, Gene Groves, John Katz, Steph Pagano, Peggy Presson, Pam Rybarczyk, Pat Stenko, Sandy Sullivan, and Joan West.

ROAR was founded on the simple principle to provide animals in need with the same love, care and compassion as shown to family pets.  Since they opened their doors in 2005, ROAR has placed almost 4,000 neglected and unwanted cats and dogs in caring homes throughout Ridgefield and surrounding towns.

The ROAR Donofrio Family Animal Shelter is located at 45 South Street, Ridgefield, CT. Visit ROAR’s website at www.roar-ridgefield.org for further information.
