Ridgefielders qualify for USA Swimming Olympic Trials

Three Ridgefield High School students and RAC swimmers, AJ Bornstein, Marcie Maguire, and Kieran Smith all swam below the Olympic qualifying time and are now eligible to participate in the USA Swimming Olympic Trials at the Centurylink Center in Omaha, NE, Sunday, June 26, to Sunday, July 3.

According to Jill Bornstein, Maguire will be swimming the 100 backstroke and 200 backstroke, Bornstein in the 200 breaststroke, and Smith in the 400 individual medley. 

Qualifying time standards for the 2016 Olympic Trials were announced Thursday, September 18, in Jacksonville, Florida. Every time for every 2016 event was below the qualifying time for the 2012 Olympics in London. 

USA swimming won 31 medals at the last Olympics and are hoping for me this time.

According to Swimming World Magazine, NBC Olympics will present eight consecutive nights of swimming Trials action in prime-time, including seven prime-time telecasts on NBC. Coverage begins Sunday, June 26, and runs through Sunday, July 3. Seven nights of live prime-time coverage will air on NBC, with prime-time coverage on Saturday, July 2, airing from 8-9 p.m. ET on NBCSN. NBCSN will also telecast daily qualifying heats.
