Meet Ridgefielder Andrew Forster & Ridgefield High School Mentor Niels Van Beek

This spring, Ridgefield families have discovered mentoring with talented students from Ridgefield High School. Through local company Role Model Mentors, high school mentors from the community are matched with younger students to provide support in academics and other shared interests such as sports and music.

Ridgefield resident Fred Forster, who has two children working with mentors, noted, “Our kids, ages eleven and thirteen, have both enjoyed and benefitted from mentoring with Role Mole Mentors. From the outset, our kids were well matched with mentors that suited their individual personalities. While initially reluctant to interface with “older kids,” each of our children has quickly developed a very positive, nurturing relationship with their respective mentors.”

Parents enroll in the program online, and after a consultation, Role Model Mentors matches their child with a Ridgefield High School student from the Role Model Mentors team.

Mentors and mentees often work together on study skills and extra review in math, writing and languages. Forster adds, “In a short time, we have seen an improvement in grades, but also a more positive attitude towards school in general. We have been extremely satisfied with our Role Model Mentors experience.”
