RHS Class of 2016 Class Speaker, Valedictorian and Class President Prepare for Graduation

Ridgefield High School’s graduation will take place on June 17th in the O'Neill Center at Western Connecticut State University. In preparation for this momentous occasion, some of the interns reached out to the various speakers for the event.

The class of 2016 Valedictorian is Siqiao Mu, who earned her place at the top with her 4.93 weighted GPA. When asked about her thoughts on the upcoming ceremony, Class Valedictorian Siqiao Mu replied with, "I definitely feel a sense of accomplishment looking back at these past four years, and I hope that my speech will reflect our collective excitement looking into the future"

Emma Hergenrother is this year’s class speaker, she is well respected for her accomplished both academically and with cross country and was delighted to offer some insight into her upcoming speech. “I'm excited and honored to be the graduation speaker because of the opportunity to connect with people through spoken word. I hope to leave our class with a memorable message that not only looks forward to the future, but also cherishes the past four years.”

In the coming fall, Siqiao will be attending California Institute of Technology and Emma will be at Princeton.

The faculty member selected by this year’s graduating class was head of Student Life and Assistant Varsity Field Hockey Coach Judith Silver. Mrs Silver noted that she was very excited to be speaking on behalf of the senior class. She was quoted saying, “I'm very excited about speaking! I feel a strong connection to this class.”

Last but certainly not least is class president John Diorio, who was beyond excited to share a bit about the upcoming graduation ceremony. “Whether it's sports, academics, or the arts, I feel that our class has gained a lot from the time it has invested at RHS. I'm thrilled to be speaking in front of my classmates on a day when we get to celebrate those accomplishments and the memories made along the way.”

All four of these prestigious speakers and more can be found at the O’Neill Center on June 17. There will be no tickets sold, guests can enter through Gate 1.
