Editor's note: Congratulations to Kaitlyn Kynast of Ridgefield and Julia Cornacchia of Darien who will compete at USRowing World Rowing Junior Championships in Rotterdam, Netherlands August 21-28 as part of USRowing’s U-19 National Team.

Connecticut Boat Club (CBC) athlete Olivia Luther of Fairfield, CT competed at the 2016 CanAmMex Regatta (Canada, America, Mexico) and won Gold in the Women’s 4- and Gold in the Women’s 8 as part of Team USA.  Twelve national rowers plus one coxswain represented Team USA in Sarasota, Florida in July.

New Haven based CanAmMex Sweep Coach Laura N. Simon is quoted as saying, “The CanAmMex Regatta is a great development opportunity that allows athletes who are still age eligibile to get an insight into the demands of international racing through an educational lens.  While the outcomes are key, the learning process is the most important aspect of the event. Athletes learn how to prepare, race, recover and stay focused.”

Additional wins this summer for CBC include Ella Petreski of Pound Ridge, New York, who won Gold in the U-17 Women’s 8 while Casey Batson of Darien and Ella Petreski won bronze in U17 4x (quadruple sculls) as part of the USRowing’s High Performance team at Club Nationals in Bethel, Ohio.
