Communications Coordinator

School Webmasters, our new online communications partner, is looking to hire a part­-time Communications Coordinator to help them deliver public relations services specifically to Ridgefield Public Schools. Of course, it's in our best interest that they find someone great for the job!  Our ideal candidate will be someone who would like to be a part of our public relation efforts, which are to ensure that our shareholders (parents, staff, students, media, and the community) understand and value our educational programs, accomplishments, goals, and successes.

As a Communications Coordinator, a typical week might include the following:

● Working closely with School Webmasters as the on­site coordinator to integrate website and social media updates, news, and success stories

● Coordinating news and marketing efforts through social media, website updates, and local media communications

● Gathering and sharing news and successes through the various channels our schools use

● Implementing, assisting, and scheduling staff input for news and school stories

● Developing and managing project campaigns and events that will assist school administrators in achieving the school’s communication goals

● Composing media releases and other communication materials

● Attending events and writing up news to help others recognize the value of what goes on here at Ridgefield Public Schools

● Interviewing administrators and staff to identify and turn seemingly everyday tasks or happenings at the school into stories worthy of sharing with the community

● Reviewing projects, campaigns, and events to report outcomes and make future recommendations

About the Job

Compensation: DOE $12–15 per hour / 8 hours per week / 10­ month contract 

The CC is the on­site liaison between Ridgefield Public Schools and School Webmasters. He or she will help to gather necessary information from the school(s) regarding its communication and public relations needs, implement communication and public relations campaigns, spearhead the timely collection and dissemination of communication, assist in keeping the client’s website and social media current and updated, and establish relationships with local media to share information.
