Ridgefield kids head to the Police Academy

The Ridgefield Police Department, together with the Boys and Girls Club of Ridgefield, host a summer police academy for kids. The Junior Police Academy (JPA) was started by Lt. Shawn Platt; 2016 marks 13 years of the program.

"Today was day 1 of the Junior Police Academy. This is a week long program in which kids ages 8-15 come and learn about what our Officers do. Some of the topics covered include- crime scene investigation, accident reconstruction, laser/radar, Police K-9 and much much more," Ridgefield Police wrote on their Facebook Page.

The JPA was started by Lt. Shawn Platt when he was the department's Detective Youth Officer.
