Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance to hold auditions for 2016 Nutcracker on September 10

Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance is in its 51st year, and Nutcracker 2016 auditions are right around the corner.  Anyone enrolled in at least one ballet class per week at RCD from Pre-Ballet II up can audition for the professionally produced full-length ballet performed at the Ridgefield Playhouse between December 16-18.

"Nutcracker is a beloved classic, and it is one of our favorite ways to bring dance to the community as a nonprofit dance school.  Mr. Glaz' version of our annual ballet has become so popular that we have added a fifth performance this year" says Artistic Director Amy Piantaggini.

Auditions are held Saturday September 10 as follows:

  • 2:30-3pm Pre-ballet II, Pre-Ballet III, and Ballet l
  • 3-3:30pm Ballet ll and Ballet lll
  • 3:30-4:15pm Ballet lV
  • 4:15-5pm Ballet V 5-5:45pm Ballet Vl

Rehearsals will begin on Saturday September 17th at 2:30pm as well as a make-up audition for Pre-ballet II - Ballet lll from 1:30-2pm, and Ballet lV-Vl from 2-2:30pm. Specific rehearsal times with casting will be sent out after the audition, and rehearsals for most groups are held on Saturdays only.  No class technique time is used for rehearsals, and participation fees apply.

Nutcracker Director Alexander Glaz says "It's beautiful to watch students of all ages grow through their experience in the Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance's annual Nutcracker. Whether they are simply gaining confidence and stage presence or progressing in their musicality, artistry and technique, it is so special to watch each participating dancer experience the joy of Nutcracker as they embark on their individual paths."
