Results of Connecticut Chefs Challenge

On Thursday I attended the OPTIMUM Health Care 6th Annual Connecticut Chefs Challenge. It was hosted at Aitoro Appliance and Electronics, in Norwalk, which was the perfect venue for a food competition - with so much space and appliances to hand.

The event saw Connecticut's TOP chefs battle it out. Following were the competing chefs (in alphabetical order). Believe me, they are all top of their game - the competition received over 40 entries.

  •    Chef Adam Bedini - StrEATery Food Truck (2015 Winner)
  •    Chef Angel Rodriguez - The Blind Rhino, Norwalk
  •    Chef Carol Koty - Masonicare, Newtown
  •    Chef Channan Khuth - Lemongrass, Danbury
  •    Chef Chris Gonzalez - Hapa Food Truck
  •    Chef Daniel Monroe - The Pantry, Fairfield
  •    Chef Mark Vecchitto - Blue Shallot Gourmet, New London (2014 Winner)
  •    Chef Prasad Chirnomula, INDIA, New Canaan
  •    Chef Renato Donzelli - Basso Cafe Restaurant & Bar, Norwalk
  •    Chef Thomas Prue - Aspen Restaurant, Old Saybrook

Hosted by Chef Plum of Plum Luv Foods, the guest judges included:

  • Anna Zapp (Presenter Star Radio)
  • Christine Gerani (Host/Executive Producer The Lounge Show)
  • Dana Jackson (Editor Edible Nutmeg)
  • Matt Kourie (Founder, Hot Wings Fest)
  • Ryan Kristafer (Presenter CT Style, Channel 8)
The chefs were then asked to create 10 identical dishes from scratch for judging. On to the winners - they were all worthy but in reverse order:

3rd Place - Chef Daniel Monroe - The Pantry, Fairfield
2nd Place - Chef Prasad Chirnomula, INDIA, New Canaan
1st Place - Chef Adam Bedini - StrEATery Food Truck
