Japanese Delegation from Jyuroku-Yama Preschool, Yamato-city, Kanagawa in Japan traveled to Ridgefield Montessori School to learn about early childhood education in America. The five-person delegation, along with a local interpreter, Noriko Galloway, led by Chairman, Furuki, toured the school, located at 96 Danbury Road.
Ridgefield Montessori School Director and owner, Cathy Tango-Dykes, spoke with the Delegation for an hour, answering questions about the curriculum, while they observed the children working in their classes. “It was so special that this delegation chose to learn from us, we felt very honored to have Chairman Furuki and his staff visit our school,” said Ms. Tango-Dykes
Chairman, Furuki and his collegues traveled to Connecticut to visit with Montessori schools in our area, and Ridgefield Montessori school was at the top of their list. "I think we have still many things to learn from the countries which have historically appreciated the early education,” said Chairman Furuki.
“In Montessori there is a huge focus on culture, peace and harmony among all people, noted Tango-Dykes. “We offer a global and cultural curriculum that promotes peace and understanding as well as foreign language classes for all children 18 monts to 6 years,” she added.
