Mrs Green's New Canaan to Close

It is with great sadness to report that Mrs. Green’s Natural Market in New Canaan is closing, and the last day of trading has been confirmed as October, 30th. The store which officially opened on Friday, 18. 2014 offered fresh produce, smoothies, natural and a selection of organic beauty products. Whether you loved it or loathed it, I found it to be a great additional local resource. It's very sad to see the empty shelves and employees reeling from being told about the imminent closure. 

In typical style, Walter Stewart's Market, who do so much for our community have reached out and will be considering taking on some of the staff.

The official line from Mrs Green's New Canaan, is they are in the midst of re-evaluating and will be closed over the next 6 months. But is this the beginning of the end for the group? Mrs Green's in Yorktown is rumored to be closing and the Winnetka store, which opened in January after a $2.5 million construction effort, closed on Oct. 16th. There are allegedly 10 remaining Mrs. Green’s markets remaining across CT and NY.

At this stage, there are no confirmed plans who will replace them at the 2 Pine St, New Canaan location but we will keep you updated.
