Second Luge World Cup Win for Ridgefielder Tucker West

Tucker West Earns Second Luge World Cup Win

Ridgefield's hometown hero, Tucker West, the youngest male ever to make the U.S. Olympic Luge Team, won his second career World Cup luge gold medal yesterday in Lake Placid, 0.006 seconds in front of Russia's Semen Pavlichenko. "I really felt at home here...I was glad I was able to perform and I couldn't ask for anything more" Tucker told USA Luge reporters via a Facebook video interview.

According to FOX News, West finished two runs in 1 minute, 43.088 seconds. The margin between first and second place matched the smallest in a World Cup men's race since February 2013 when Andi Langenham of Germany topped Russia's Albert Demtschenko by 0.004 seconds.

Tucker's dad, Brett West wrote on the Team Tucker Facebook Page today, "Tucker wins 2nd World Cup of the season!! Insanely close, but very exciting finish."

The World Cup continues today, Saturday, December 3. Tucker will compete in the Team Relay. You can watch it live here or visit Team USA article about Tucker West to learn more.
