Neighbor Input is Primary Reason for Mountainside to Withdraw Rehab Center Application

Ridgefield Planning & Zoning has just informed us that Mountainside has withdrawn their application for the rehabilitation facility. Planning & Zoning received word over the weekend that Mountainside had withdrawn the application in its entirety.

The proposal for a rehabilitation center to be placed on Old West Mountain Road was the subject of a Public Hearing on January 3 at which time many residents voiced their concerns regarding the impact the facility would have on the neighborhood. A second Public Hearing was to take place on February 7.

A letter from Mountainside cited that neighborhood input was the primary reason for the withdrawl, according to Planning & Zoning.

In response to Mountainside's proposal, neighbors launched Ridgefield Neighborhood Preservation Alliance, rallying community members and raising support to oppose the special permit allowing a commercial business to operate in a residential area. Today, these neighbors take a sigh of relief.

We will bring you additional information when we it is available.
