Ridgefield Public Schools Announces 2017-2018 Teacher of the Year

Ridgefield Public Schools is delighted to announce our Teacher of the Year for the 2017-18 school year: Jennifer Roth of East Ridge Middle School!

Watch as Superintendent Karen Baldwin surprised Ms. Roth during the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon at East Ridge Middle School on May 5.

The Teacher of the Year committee, lead by Ms. Dewing, revised the Teacher of the Year process this year. In an effort to acknowledge the exceptional work of our teachers across all nine schools, the process included each school selecting an Ambassador to represent their school.

The Teacher of the Year committee, comprised of representatives from the schools, former Teachers of the Year, and administrative reps, selected the Teacher of the Year from the pool of 9 selected School Ambassadors.

In her nomination, one of Ms. Roth’s colleagues commented, "Beyond Jennifer's creative approach to teaching science lessons and activities that stir curiosity, wonder, and inspiration in her students, one of her most unique gifts is an extraordinary ability to deal with people, including, excellent communication, patience, empathy towards others, and a willingness to work together to solve any problems." Ms. Dewing announced this in an email to our teachers on Friday after the early morning ceremony at ERMS, stating “We are proud to have Ms. Roth represent the Ridgefield Public Schools.”

She also acknowledged all of the School Ambassadors and thanked them for their contributions to their school and the district.
