RHS Seniors Moss and Schole and The Ridgefield School of Dance
The Ridgefield School of Dance extends heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to graduating RHS seniors Nina Moss and Anneke Schole. Both students joined the dance school by the age of four, and they have danced in ballets including The Nutcracker, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Alice in Wonderland, and Coppelia, in addition to many jazz and contemporary performances.
Reflecting on their favorite roles, Nina recalls her solo as Fairy Godmother in Cinderella, with its challenging choreography. Anneke recollects her solo as Dewdrop, a fun and demanding role in the Nutcracker. Both roles were tailored by Artistic Director Jessica Boelts to feature the particular strengths of each dancer.
As members of the Ballet Company, both dancers consider the group to be more than just dance friends, but rather best friends and family. Company member Mackenzie Whitelaw regards the pair as older siblings leaving for college. From her years working with both dancers, Ms. Boelts notes their dedication and maturity, and Executive Director Alison Brown echoes the joy it has been to see them grow as dancers and young women, and how the school and community will miss them.
This fall, Anneke will attend the University of Miami, with an interest in psychology and political science. Nina will pursue studies at McMaster University in Ontario, Canada, focusing on the social sciences. Both students plan to continue dancing in college.
On June 17th and 18th at Ridgefield High School, the dancers will perform lead roles as Sylphs in Les Sylphides, and will dance in Carnival as Skunk Pianists. They will also perform jazz and contemporary dance selections, including original choreography by Artistic Director Boelts and fellow Company member Kyra Winslow. Both dancers share that they are so grateful for the joys, friendships, and confidence that dance has given them, and are excited to return to help with The Nutcracker in December!
