Congratulations to Ridgefielders, Ella Kemp and Nico Salazar, part of GMS Rowing Center in New Milford, who recently medaled in the US Rowing Youth Nationals in Sarasota Florida.
Nico is a rising Ridgefield High School senior and Ella is a recent grad who will be rowing for the University of Pennsylvania in the fall. Both Nico and Ella have competed against teams from all over the country.
“The team, which boasts about a dozen rowers from the town's high school and middle schools, won the overall national medal count,” reports Steve Skor, father of two GMS Rowing Center teens.
As a dad of two longtime rowers, Steve Skor says, “If anyone has any questions about opportunities for their middle or high school children to start rowing would be happy (as part of a rowing family for several decades) to help point them in the right direction.
