Keeler Tavern Museum to honor Pankeniers at Cannonball Gala on September 16

Keeler Tavern Museum and History Center (KTHC) will be hosting its annual Cannonball Gala on Saturday, September 16. After several years of being hosted at various off-site venues, the benefit dinner will be coming back to the museum campus. Click HERE to purchase tickets.

The Cannonball Gala is a major fundraiser for the museum, especially for KTHC’s operating and education budgets. Proceeds from the event support the museum’s diverse education programs, which provide school children from around Fairfield County with immersive learning experiences in three-centuries of history.

At the evening’s festivities, KTHC will honor Judi and Charlie Pankenier, long-time supporters and volunteers of the museum, with a presentation of the Cannonball Award. The Pankeniers serve as docents at the Museum and are deeply involved in the education programs, portraying historic figures, guiding students in document analysis, and giving hands-on lessons on Revolutionary and Civil War field medicine. Mr. Pankenier also serves on the museum’s Board of Directors.

The Anna Keeler Award for Excellence in History and Civics Education will be awarded to Chris Petersen, 7th grade social studies teacher at Scotts Ridge Middle School.

This year’s event will pay tribute to ‘Ridgefield’s Gilded Age’ with garden cocktails, ale in the historic tavern, live music, auctions, and a sit-down dinner by Sarah Bouïssou Catering.

“We are thrilled that our guests will experience and enjoy the beautiful property and important work that they so generously support every year,” explains Teri Fischer, co-chair of the Gala Committee. “It will be wonderful to celebrate at home this year.”

The gala is from 6 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $175 per person; sponsorship opportunities are also available. Tickets and sponsorships may be purchase online at keelertavernmuseum.org, or by calling the business office at 203-438-5485. Keeler Tavern Museum & History Center is located at 132 Main Street, Ridgefield.
