Kristin McGuinness, also known by many of our local children as Mrs. Sparklicious, has teamed up with her sister, Alyssa Genovese, to launch their newest business, Sparkle Events. The sparkle duo is beyond excited about their new company which is allowing them to continue to spread the sparkles in their community!

Sisters! How do you balance being sisters and coworkers?
We really are best friends and love working together. When we express our passion for what we do we say that "we live and breathe sparkles". There is a 13 year age gap between us and we believe that because of this, we are able to better serve our clients. Alyssa is in her 20’s and shares similarities in clients who are newly engaged, about to get married, etc.; Kristin is married with three children. We find that relating to our customers through our personal lives helps us to reach the goal of creating the most memorable events.
How did Sparklicious and Sparkle Events come about?
Our mom owned a children’s party center in lower Westchester County, NY. As kids, we loved working with her, it was some of the BEST moments of our childhood memories. She taught us everything that we know about events. And, when Kristin was in college, she started sketching her event planning ideas out. From there, Sparklicious was launched in 2014.
With business ramping up through Sparklicious, we decided it was time to launch our sparkle event company. Customers kept saying that their daughters' parties went so flawlessly that they wanted us to plan their next event! They hired us to plan a holiday party or corporate party - we were being hired just based on the excellent parties that our children party center delivered. Word quickly spread through Fairfield County, CT and Westchester County, NY that we were not only hosting birthday parties but all types of events stemming from our loyal Sparklicious customer base.
Are Sparkle Events just for Kids?
No, Sparkle Events is for weddings, bridal showers, birthday parties, holiday parties, at-home events, moms’ night out, brunches, fundraisers, corporate retreats, team building, mall events, family days, launch parties, employee appreciation and more!
How can someone go about hosting a party?
We would set up a consultation for them to meet with us and our team. We also have two Senior Event Coordinators, Caity Van Camp and Valerie Macchia. So, between the four of us, we create an amazing event, “The Sparkle is in the Detail”. Our team members share a similar passion and we work seamlessly together, executing a perfect event with a bit of sparkle flair, of course.
What do you like most about your job?
Kristin: I love my job, it is my passion. I love meeting new people and hearing their ideas and bringing that vision to life. Our team is focused and we do not miss a detail. When you do what you LOVE, it shows. When starting Sparkle Events, I chose a team that has passion and will deliver an unforgettable experience living up to our Sparkle standards.
Alyssa: My sister, Kristin, started Sparklicious and being her little sister, I wanted to follow in her footsteps. I quickly realized that I loved event planning! When we work on a big event and stay up for nights preparing, seeing the final result is beyond awarding. I am excited to continue to spread the sparkles and bring memories to our clients that will last a lifetime.
