Services planned for Josy Connelly of Ridgefield

Josephine B. Connelly 

Josephine B. Connelly, 85, of Ridgefield, wife of James P. Connelly, died at her home on Friday, December 15, 2017.

Mrs. Connelly was born in Langhorne, PA, September 11, 1932, a daughter of the late Andrew and Josephine (Klineska) Babesh. She attended Langhorne schools and graduated from Temple School of Nursing.

Upon graduation from nursing school, Mrs. Connelly entered the U.S. Navy and served as a Navy nurse from 1952 to 1955.

From 1955 to 1969, Mrs. Connelly became a full time homemaker maintaining a household and raising a family.

A resident of Ridgefield since 1969 coming from Westbury, L.I., NY, Mrs. Connelly resumed her nursing career with the School Sisters of Notre Dame of Wilton, Silver Hill Hospital of New Canaan and the Norwalk Hospital. She later became coordinator of at home services with the Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association. A member of St. Mary Parish, she was involved in Bible Study and was a founder and member of the Stephen’s Ministry at St. Mary Church

She was a member of Founders Hall, an accomplished artist who enjoyed gardening and cooking. Most of all, she enjoyed the time shared with her family, most especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

“Josi”was a person with great faith, who willingly shared so much of herself with so many people throughout her life. She was a true friend and perfect lady with an infectious personality and great smile, she will be sorely missed.

In addition to her husband James, Mrs. Connelly is survived by their sons, Arthur Michaelsen Jr. (Julia) of Brookfield and Dr. Joseph Connelly (Melinda) of Wilton, CT; daughters, Diane Michaelsen of Naugatuck, CT, Joanne Moore (James) of Litchfield, CT, Nancy Burke (Noel) of Milford, CT, Elizabeth Greenman (Ronald) of Tallahasee, FL, Mary Ronan (Edward) of Brookfield, CT and Faith Connelly of Charlotte, NC; sisters, Elizabeth McCain and Rosalie Johnson (Arland) both of Florence, OR; sixteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Connelly was predeceased by their son, James P Connelly Jr. and her sister, Marie Doll and brother, Andrew Babesh.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 10:15 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church, 55 Catoonah St., Ridgefield with the Msgr. Laurence Bronkiewicz officiating.

Burial will take place in St. Mary Cemetery, Ridgefield.

The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
