Nature’s Temptations Naturopathic Physician Expands Services

Nature's Temptations, the organic food market and health food store at 32 Prospect St., has announced that Dr. Amy Johnson, its on-staff naturopathic physician, is now available for routine and specialized laboratory testing. She is at the store Fridays, 10-4, and Saturdays, 10-2.

"I offer neurotransmitter testing, specialized Lyme disease and heavy metals testing and other general lab work" she said. "Some of the patients who benefit from neurotransmitter testing are those with anxiety, depression or addictions. Based on individual results I prescribe protocols that may include supplements, such as amino acids, botanicals and specific vitamins. I also collaborate with other medical practitioners patients may be seeing."

Dr. Johnson also provides acupuncture treatments, homeopathic prescriptions, nutrition and lifestyle counseling at her Nature's Temptations office as well as at Charter Oak Wellness in Hamden. Dr. Johnson earned her bachelor of science in nursing from Western Connecticut State University. After working in intensive care for 10 years, she earned her doctorate from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine.

"I chose naturopathic medicine because I believe the allopathic medical model provides mainly symptomatic management," she said. "I am now able to focus on treating root causes, educating patients and helping them maintain wellness."
