UPDATED: The Prospector Theater Uses Unique Building Materials

UPDATED (April 24, 2014): At the end of March, HamletHub ran a short story about a unique building material that was being used at the Prospector Theater... pennies!  Readers were asked to guess the amount of pennies it would take to cover the ceiling of their 500 square foot café.  Guesses ranged from 15,000 to 7 million, but the correct answer is 35,000 pennies.

Once open, make sure you look-up when you're in the café!

The pennies have arrived!

While seven bank employees loading boxes of pennies into the back of a truck might look bad... it isn't a robbery in Ridgefield.  It is part of the building process of the Prospector Theater.  Besides a three-screen movie theater, the Prospector Theater will have a café, restaurant, and bar; and these pennies will be used in the Prospector Theater's café!.

In celebration of the old building's long history as a bank, the ceiling of the café will be artfully covered PENNIES!  Follow The Prospector Theater's blog for photos of the construction process.

How many pennies do you think it will take to cover the ceiling of a 500 square foot café? Let the Prospector know your thoughts.
