New faces & menu items at Ridgefield's Wooster Hollow Diner

Have you noticed? There’s a new friendly face behind the counter of the Wooster Hollow Diner.

Ridgefield’s family-friendly diner-style eatery was started by Nick and Eva Apazidis in 1998 when the duo converted an antique furniture store into a Diner and Deli. With its versatile menu and casual atmosphere, Wooster Hollow became a popular, local hang out.

In December of 2014, the Wooster Hollow Diner began a brand new chapter. Ron Herman, a GE retiree with a passion for entrepreneurship, purchased the business from the Apazidis family. Herman entrusted his longtime friend Josh, a recent Cornell grad who studied Hospitality Management, to operate and manage the vibrant diner.

"Ron and I are focused on serving a fresher, more streamlined menu," explains Josh. “Our goal is to make Wooster Hollow the best Diner & Deli in Fairfield County, always using fantastic recipes and fresh ingredients from local growers wherever possible,” he adds. Josh has introduced new menu items which are available for take-out or delivery and beginning on February 11, the diner will remain open for dinner.

Also new to Wooster Hollow is a liquor license. "We have a great selection of beer that is available by the bottle and wine that we offer both by the glass or bottle," says Josh. Beer options include Captain Lawrence Pale Ale, Two Roads IPA, Corona Extra, Miller Lite, Sam Adams Boston Lager, and Yeungling Lager. Wines include Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Prosecco, Cabernet Sauvignon, Montepulciano, and a Pinot Noir.

Wooster Hollow's future is bright with Ron and Josh at the helm. "I've worked in restaurants since I was 15 years old and I've always aspired to run a restaurant,” he admits.

Look for interior renovations coming to the diner this spring and, says Josh, "more and more fresh options as time goes on".

Wooster Hollow Diner is located at 659 Danbury Road.
