Last call to enter BandJam 2015 and make it big: Saturday, February 7

This is last call for middle and high school bands who think they can rock and win the coveted title of Ridgefield BandJam 2015. Entries are due to The Ridgefield Playhouse by 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 7. Visit ridgefieldbandjam.com for all details on how to enter and how to compete. Live tryouts for the 16 semi-finalist bands will take place at The Ridgefield Playhouse at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2, for middle school bands, and on Wednesday, March 3, at 7 p.m. for high school bands. Finalists in both categories will compete for the coveted titles on Sunday, April 26, at 4 p.m. when BandJam 2015 rocks the Playhouse.

Winning BandJam is a door opener, one that can kick start a career and, in the case of Juice, the band that won in the high school category, last year, it helped them secure a recording contract. They even had a gig at the famed Bitter End in NYC. Evan Bloch, singer and guitarist in Juice knows the value of BandJam.  "Practicing for and playing live at BandJam helped us prepare for our time in the studio a few months later. It really motivated us to go into the studio and record our music with professional producers last June."

Two months after earning the coveted title, the Juice musicians did in fact record a 4-song EP and attribute the high level competition BandJam as having had a “huge impact” on their ability to keep focused on their goal of cutting a professionally produced album. Juice lead guitarist Max Day believes that "BandJam gave us the confidence that the original songs we wrote were good enough to take into the studio." The Juice guys encourage bands that know they can rock to enter this year’s challenge.  BandJam judges have been well known recording and performing artists, record producers and celebrities.  Their coaching is invaluable to the competitors.

Now in its 6th year, BandJam was created by kids as a fundraiser for The Ridgefield Playhouse, a premiere not-for-profit performing arts center in Ridgefield, CT.  BandJam has proven to be a highly anticipated annual community event that raises significant funds for the Playhouse. This year’s BandJam is powered by Guitar Center, sponsored by Music Shed, Pepsi, i95fm, The Enchanted Garden and Hal Prince Music and Entertainment with support from Ridgefield Music and video production by pda films.
