Spencer Eldridge will exhibit a body of new work, abstracted landscapes, in a show in the Carriage Barn at Keeler Tavern Museum, starting with an opening reception on Friday, April 10th, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. While his previous show at Keeler Tavern Museum featured more representational landscapes, the Ridgefield, CT, artist’s new work, painted this past summer, is a return to abstraction. Show hours will be from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Wednesdays through Sundays, Saturday, April 11th, through Sunday, April 19th. On Monday, April 13th, Mr. Eldridge will speak in the Carriage Barn about his work during the Ridgefield Arts Council’s “The Generator” event, which starts at 7:30 p.m.
Spencer Eldridge (www.spencereldridge.com) teaches visual arts in the Katonah-Lewisboro Schools and works with aspiring young artists in both the visual arts and music. He started working in oils-on-canvas in the late 1990s, with a passion for exploration and a strong desire to learn all he could about the medium. He began to paint landscapes in his wooded backyard when he moved with his family to the suburbs of New York City. His work can be found in homes from Connecticut to California, as well as in public and corporate collections. A vocal champion for the arts in education, Mr. Eldridge has contributed his work to charitable institutions such as Arts For Act, Bailey House, Sacandaga Protection Committee, and Keeler Tavern Museum. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from SUNY- Purchase and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Manhattanville College.
