3D Street Art is coming to Main Street

Downtown Ridgefield's Spring Stroll, beginning on Friday, May 1, at 5 p.m., is bringing something new to Ridgefield: professional street artists.

Anthony Cappetto, an internationally-known 3D street artist and entrepreneur, will be creating outside Fairfield County Bank Insurance Services from Thursday, April 30, thru Saturday afternoon, May 2. Throughout the weekend, visitors are invited to stop, watch and even ask questions during the transformation from simple Ridgefield sidewalk to spectacular 3D scene.

On the other side of the street, graffiti artist Mark Panzarino will be working outside of Town Hall. According to the Spring Stroll organizers, "Mark Panzarino began his training in the classical arts at The School of American Ballet at the age of 6, and joined Miami City Ballet at 18.  Later, he made a splash in the avant-garde theatre scene of the 1990's East Village.  Creating full-sized chalk imprints for 3 years now, Mark's work addresses issues of beauty, ephemera, and equality. He is pleased to be creating a new work for Downtown Ridgefield."

Besides the two street artists, several Ridgefield High School students will try their hand at street art on Main Street. Artist Cappetto has graciously offered to teach a master class to the students on Saturday morning, and at 10 a.m., they will begin creating their own original designs. These students will be participating for a $250 prize, which at the end of the day on Saturday will be judged by Tina Phillips, an artist who is exhibiting at the Keeler Tavern's Cass Gilbert Carriage Barn during the Spring Stroll.
