New Scene Study Class at Ridgefield Theater Barn!

Due to overwhelming demand, the Ridgefield Theater Barn is offering a new Scene Study Class – An Actor Works, under the instruction of Devon Caraway.  This course provides the experienced actor a laboratory in which to work and hone specific skills and tools. Focus will also be given to the importance & development of the vocal instrument. Class will start with a vocal warm -up rooted in the Linklater Vocal Technique - students will learn about their own vocal instruments while using practical tools for performance amidst scene work. Scene selections will be selected with the actor’s personal goals in mind.

Devon, originally from Ridgefield, is an actor and director based out of NYC. She has a BFA from NYU Tisch School of the Arts, which included training at Playwrights Horizons Theatre School, the Meisner Studio, and The Classical Studio.  She also holds an MFA from the Brown University/Trinity Repertory’s Acting & Directing MFA Program. Devon has two years of experience working in NY casting offices: The Roundabout Theatre Company and Calleri Casting.  Devon has also taught Acting & Directing to undergraduates at Brown University as well as last summer’s Adult Scene Study Course at The Ridgefield Theater Barn.

The class, for adults only, will take place Monday evenings 6-9pm, beginning June 8th

To assure that every student receives adequate attention, class size is limited to 10 students, so early registration is strongly recommended. This is an adults only course; minimum age 18.  The 6-week workshop will run through July 13th, with a cost of $300 for members, $320 non-members.

All classes will be held at the Ridgefield Theater Barn, 37 Halpin Lane.  For more information, please visit ridgefieldtheaterbarn.org.
