Shop Local & Farm Fresh at Ridgefield Farmers' Market Tomorrow!

Visit Ridgefield Farmers' Market tomorrow, Thursday, June 11, from 2 to 6pm for fresh and local good! The Market is located on the grounds of the Historic Lounsbury House (316 Main Street).

HamletHub visited Ridgefield Farmers' Market last week. Here's a recap so you can start planning your weekend recipes based on these farm-fresh selections:

Shoppers enjoy a variety of products from pies and honey to berries, veggies, muffins and even dog treats. Oranoque Farms from Shelton, CT is selling delicious fruit pies, honey, maple syrup, and jelly and jams. Likewise, Artisanal Jams offered a wide variety of organic jams and marmalades. Some of our interns’ favorites include strawberry and spicy apple cider jelly. Following a family recipe from the ‘50s, these tasty jams are made with ⅔ less sugar, leaving more emphasis on the fruit flavor.

Simpaug Farms showed a variety of freshly grown fruits and vegetables, including strawberries, carrots, kale, and other greens. Do Re Me Farms had various veggies as well, of which the grape tomatoes looked especially crisp and sweet.

The Farmers Market featured not only fresh fruits and veggies, but also pasta, breads, and baked goods. Fresh Pastabilities had home made ravioli with tasty sauces out for sampling. Beldotti Bakeries offered a rather sophisticated treat: a bread topped with fresh mozzarella, tomato, and homemade pesto. Finally, Honore’s table had many different muffins and cookies, such as pumpkin seed chocolate chip cookies, morning glory muffins, orchard fruit butters, and other assorted muffins.

Charlie and the Dog Treat Factory is selling homemade tasty treats for dogs. The stand offered three different cookies: the fresh breath biscuit, the gluten free biscuit, and the gourmet biscuit. They also offer blankets, pillows, and small homemade toys for your pup!

Hayfields rounds off the stands, selling flowers, garden accessories, and sun hats.

Stop by and pick up your locally grown, farm fresh products this season!
