CRY WOLF: Humanity's Love/Hate Relationship with Canis Lupus

Date: July 18, 2015

Time: 11AM

Fee: $13- adults / $11 - children under 12

The wolf was revered.  Upon another time, it was feared.  The wolf has been both worshiped and loathed.  It has hunted side by side with humans, and was hunted to near-extinction by humans.  In her all-new program, Terri Bocklund brings this fascinating story to life in a multi-media presentation and live music performance.  As an award-winning singer/songwriter and devoted naturalist, she brings the latest in wolf research to her audience and teases out the real meaning behind the very relevant question, "Who's afraid of the big, bad wolf?"  Terri reveals the surprising answer as she lays bare the myths, misconceptions, and controversies surrounding a recovering (yet still endangered) species. Pre-registration is required.  Information and registration are available at www.nywolf.org.

Guests will get an inside look at the process of matching potential breeders, what criteria must be met to recommend wolves for release into the wild, the husbandry challenge of caring for animals that we rarely see and how it feels to help Mexican gray wolves resume their rightful place in the wild.  Guests will visit the WCC's Ambassador wolves as well as the WCC’s critically endangered red wolves and Mexican gray wolves.  Pre-registration is required.  Information and registration are available at www.nywolf.org.
