Ridgefield Women’s Club Donates Julia Gilbert Banner to Keeler Tavern Museum

The Ridgefield Women's Club donated a standing banner picturing Julia Gilbert before her presentation to King George V in 1925. The gown she is wearing is the same gown currently on display in the Cass Gilbert Dining Room (pictured on mannequin).

The gown was restored in 2014 with the help of donations from the community as part of FC Gives, a 24-hour online fundraiser sponsored by the Fairfield County Community Foundation. The weight of the beading on the gown means that it can only be put on display for a few months at a time. The new banner will be on display when the original gown is in storage for preservation purposes.
