What's next for Tigers' Den in Ridgefield?

Felony charges for Tigers' Den owner, now what?

We have received some inquiries regarding Tigers' Den, the Ridgefield Sports Bar & Grill which was the subject of an investigation by Ridgefield and Wilton Police last Thursday, July 23 due to underage drinking at the restaurant. You can read more about it here.

The restaurant, located at 23 Catoonah Street, remains open and some are wondering why.

We spoke with The Connecticut Liquor Control Division who explained that once the local police report the incident, there is a process that takes place on the State level. This process takes a minimum of eight weeks.

Here's how it goes:

The local police send a referral to the State Liquor Division

The State reviews the report for what they call "legal sufficiency".

Should the State have questions, they will follow up with police.

When all of the facts are in order, the State will send a thorough report to their legal council.

The legal council will contact the establishment that is the subject of the offense and either:

  • a. negotiate a settlement or
  • b. set up a Compliance Meeting

There may or may not be an agreement based on the Compliance Meeting.

If an agreement is not reached, a Hearing will take place and the owners of the establishment will appear in front of the Liquor Control Commission (which is comprised of a 3 person committee).
