St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 351 Main St., offers Good Friday and Easter observances that welcome all age groups, and two of the three Easter Sunday services will feature guest instrumentalists.
On Good Friday, from 10 a.m. to noon, the church will hold a program for young people and their parents in two phases. From 10-11 a.m. children and their parents (as needed) will cycle through several stations of activity and reflection in the church sanctuary. From 11 a.m.-noon, children and their parents will dye Easter Eggs and make Resurrection Cookies in anticipation of the completion of the Holy Week story. People can come for either hour or both.
The Good Friday service at 7:30 p.m. will present a moving chanting of the Passion by a trio of singers – Giustino Capodilupo, Thomas Carr and Scott Toperzer – and chorus.
The three services on Easter Sunday, March 27, are: Morning Prayer at 6:30 and a Festival Eucharist at 9 and 11 a.m. The Festival services will feature a brass quintet and timpani and the St. Stephen’s Choir. Music in the Festival services will feature hymn arrangements for Brass, Organ and Timpani by Richard Webster.
