The Maritime Aquarium's Marine Life Study Cruises Now Until September 5

Now until September 5th, The Maritime Aquarium will be holding marine life study cruises where you'll have the chance to examine a variety of fish, crabs, mollusks, and other creatures brought up out of Long Island Sound. The cruises run daily and most cruises depart at 1 p.m., but some outings at 10 a.m. and 2 and 4 p.m. will occur. See the Maritime Aquarium’s website for specific dates and times.

Discover and study the odd and mystifying creatures of the sound right before your eyes during these memorable public cruises aboard The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk's cool new research vessel.

Participants also help find tiny crabs, worms and other animals hidden in the muddy bottom, and view plankton using a videomicroscope linked to the boat’s giant-screen monitor.

Cruises occur aboard the R/V Spirit of the Sound™, the only research vessel in the country with quiet "green" hybrid-electric propulsion. There is a climate-controlled cabin but participants should dress for weather out on deck where most activities occur.

Tickets are $29.95 ($24.95 for members). Additional Aquarium admission is optional.

Advance reservations are strongly recommended. Walk-up tickets will be sold, space permitting.

Reserve your tickets or get more details at www.maritimeaquarium.org or call (203) 852-0700, ext. 2206.

The Maritime Aquarium is a place for all ages to enjoy opportunities to discover the natural resources of the Long Island Sound. Set in a refurbished 1860s factory at the mouth of the Norwalk River, the Aquarium building and its location reflect the region’s industrial past and human uses of Long Island Sound for recreation and commerce.
