As you stroll down Main Street, you may notice that a portion of the stonewall encompassing Ballard Park is damaged.
First Selectman Rudy Marconi has confirmed that the damage was caused by a motor vehicle accident. "A car coming up to the light accelerated instead of stopping," says Marconi. To avoid hitting another car, the driver turned his or her wheel, drove into the stone wall, and rolled over. The driver of the vehicle did not sustain any serious injury.
Marconi says he is waiting for the insurance company to provide an estimate for the repair of the wall.
"It would be nice if we could just pick it up and put it back in place, but I don't think that is possible," says Marconi.
