A message from Superintendent Deb Low:
Please join me in welcoming two new members to the Ridgefield Public School community. Police Officers Mark Giglio and Chris Daly both have completed their National Association of School Resource Officer training. They began their assignment as School Resource Officers (SROs) for the Ridgefield Public Schools earlier this month. They join our current School Resource Officer Fernando Luis.
As you may remember, the addition of two SROs is part of the district's security plan put in place after the Newtown tragedy. Officer Luis will remain assigned to Ridgefield High School. Officer Giglio is assigned to East Ridge Middle School, Veterans Park Elementary, Farmingville Elementary, and Branchville Elementary. Officer Daly is assigned to Scotts Ridge Middle School, Barlow Mountain Elementary, Scotland Elementary and Ridgebury Elementary. Both Officer Giglio and Officer Daly are familiar faces around town and around the schools.
Officer Giglio earned a BA degree in Sociology and has been a member of the Ridgefield Police Department for 19 years. He has extensive experience working with the children of Ridgefield. He taught the DARE program for the past 17 years and acts as the Youth Officer, part of the Detective Bureau running the Junior Police Academy. Officer Giglio will have his office ERMS and will also support the school communities at VPES, FES and BES.
This partnership with the Ridgefield Police Department will strengthen our school communities. The SROs will work with the administration, staff, and students on security; facilitate communication between the police department, schools, students, and families; and continue to provide educational programs such as the DARE program.
We are excited that Officer Giglio and Officer Daly have begun their partnership with us
