Polling Places in Ridgefield Subject to Election Audit

Connecticut Secretary of State Denise W. Merrill, in a press release dated November 23, called for election results to be audited at select polling locations, two of which are East Ridge Middle School and Yanity Gym in Ridgefield.

The offices subject to audit are: President / Vice President, US Senate, and Representative in Congress.

According to Hope Wise, Republican Registrar of Voters for the Town of Ridgefield, the audit will take place in Town Hall (lower level) on Friday, December 2 at 8:30 am and again on Monday, December 5, also at 8:30 am.

“The audit will include a hand count of ballots from five percent of all polling places that use optical scanners to be matched against machine totals as prescribed by Connecticut General Statutes 9-320f,” the press release states.

Secretary Merrill said, “Connecticut should be proud to have some of the most stringent audit laws in the country. In an election year that saw various entities attempt to sow the seeds of doubt in the process, this state can be assured that all possible safeguards are in place to count every vote. Whether it is Election Day Registration, online voter registration or our meticulous audit process, the rights of the voter are our highest priority in Connecticut.”
