Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton Wants to Make a Connecticut Comeback

In December, Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton launched the Connecticut Comeback Committee to explore a run for statewide office in 2018. "I believe we can return Connecticut to the place where we grew up: a place with low taxes, a place where children thrive in quality schools, and a place where businesses are allowed to flourish and grow," Boughton explains.

In an open letter he sent to constituents where he seeks donations (maximum contribution of $100 per donor) Boughton said, "Our state has some of the highest debt in the country. Under Governor Malloy’s leadership, Connecticut has fallen victim to massive tax increases. Businesses are leaving our state, taking with them job opportunities and economic development. Our education system, which was once one of the best, is also in deep trouble. Simply put: Connecticut is in a downward spiral and it’s time for us to demand effective leadership."
