Neighbors Speak Out In Favor of Amendment: P&Z Says Private Club Stays

The Public Hearing focused on an amendment to Section 3.2.C.3 Recreational Uses: to remove “Private Clubs” from Recreational Uses within the Ridgefield Zoning Regulations,  took place last night, Tuesday, September 19 at East Ridge Middle School.

Despite more than 25 Peaceable Road neighbors and area residents speaking out against the language “Private Club” and supporting the amendment brought forth by Jeffrey & Jennifer Hansen and their agent, Peter S. Olson, Ridgefield’s Planning and Zoning Commission denied the amendment to remove the term Private Club Recreational Uses within the Ridgefield Zoning Regulations in an 8-1 vote.

“What is a Private Club?” said Peaceable Road resident, Matt Grossman. “It’s not clear. Strike out those words from our community,” he added.

Another Peaceable Road resident said, “How is a Private Club defined?”

Longtime Ridgefield realtor, Chip Neumann said, “Save our town and save our neighborhoods!”

Mrs. Pinchbeck, whose family owned Pinchbeck Nursery for nearly 100 years, spoke out in favor of the proposed amendment.

Last night’s Public Hearing was a win for developers of the proposed Winter Club on Peaceable Street.
