Police Blotter: Asleep at the Wheel, Cell Phone Violation, DUI

On Friday March 21 at approximately 11:08 a.m. Ridgefield Police responded to a 2-car motor vehicle accident on Ethan Allen Hwy. The operator of vehicle #1, a 79-year-old Norwalk man, fell asleep while he was traveling northbound on EAH. His vehicle then went across the double yellow lines into the southbound lane of traffic. The vehicle struck a speed limit sign, continued traveling through the parking lot of Ace Tire and it came to a stop after striking a parked vehicle and a utility pole. The operator was issued a written warning for Failure to Drive Right and was transported to Danbury Hospital for observation.

On Tuesday March 25 at approximately 1:00 p.m. Ridgefield Police stopped a vehicle, the operator a 50-year-old Hastings-on-Hudson NY man, and issued a misdemeanor summons for Operating a Motor Vehicle with Cell Phone and Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License.

On Thursday March 27 at approximately 8:23 p.m. Ridgefield Police pulled over a motor vehicle, the operator a 44-year-old Ridgefield woman, for Failure to Drive in the Proper Lane. The operator failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence. She was processed at headquarters and given a court date of April 10, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in Danbury to answer for the above said charges. She was released to a friend on a $200 cash bond.

On Friday March 28 at approximately 12:31 a.m. Ridgefield Police stopped a vehicle, operated by a 22-year-old Ansonia man, and issued a misdemeanor summons for Traveling Unreasonably Fast and Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License.
