State's attorney says Ridgefield Police Officer's actions justified in shooting death of John Valluzzo

On Friday, May 24, 2013 at approximately 5:20 pm, Ridgefield resident, 75 year old John V. Valluzzo, died after approaching Ridgefield police officers at the door to his house at 423 Ridgebury Road. Mr. Valluzzo was armed. Ridgefield Police Officer Jorge Romero shot Valluzzo who later died (read obituary here).

According to State Attorney Stephen J. Sedensky, Ridgefield Police Officer Romero was justified under C.G.S. Sec. 53a-22(c) in using deadly physical force upon another person, that being Mr. Valluzzo. He was justified based upon his reasonable belief that the use of such force was necessary to defend himself and other persons. No further action will be taken by the Division of Criminal Justice as a result of this incident.
